As concertgoers depart, they will encounter telescopes operated by young people new to France. This invitation to observe the night sky is part of an ongoing project led by astrophysicists Jean-Philippe Uzan and Sylvain Bouley in collaboration with the France Fraternités Association to provide education and community to refugee youth in Paris.

Après avoir quitté la salle, le public pourra observer le ciel nocturne grâce à des télescopes, maniés par des jeunes récemment installé·es en France. Ce projet a été mené par les astrophysiciens Jean-Philippe Uzan et Sylvain Bouley, en collaboration avec l’association France Fraternités qui soutient des initiatives du lien social et d’éducation pour les jeunes refugiées à Paris.

Yo-Yo Ma joins poet, rapper, author, and director Abd Al Malik on the steps of the Grande Halle de la Villette, a slaughterhouse turned cultural center. Together, these two first-generation French artists explore what it means to be French in the past and future, presenting text from Francophone African writers and historians, combined with music. Rencontre entre Yo-Yo Ma et le poète, rappeur, écrivain et réalisateur Abd Al Malik à l’entrée de la Grande Halle de la Villette – ancien abattoir transformé en centre culturel. Ensemble, ces deux artistes, tous deux français de première génération, présenteront des textes d’historiens et écrivains africains accompagnés de musique. Ouvert au public.

In this first-ever collaboration between UNESCO and the European Space Agency (ESA), Yo-Yo Ma brings artists, scientists and young people together in an evening of music and conversation exploring how imagination and responsibility intersect on this planet, and beyond. Yo-Yo joins cultural leaders including ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer, pianist Emanuel Ax, and singer Imany to engage an audience of university students from across Paris. By registration only.

A l’occasion d’une collaboration historique entre l’UNESCO et l’Agence Spatiale Européenne (ESA), Yo-Yo Ma rassemble artistes, scientifiques et jeunes pour une soirée de musique et de conversations, afin d’interroger comment s’entremêlent imagination et responsabilité sur notre planète, et au-delà. Yo-Yo Ma réunit des leaders culturels comme l’astronaute de l’ESA Matthias Maurer, le pianiste Emanuel Ax et la chanteuse Imany, afin de dialoguer avec des etudiantes des universités parisiennes.

Yo-Yo joins cultural agency Little Africa for an afternoon block party in la Goutte d’Or, a Parisian center for art and entrepreneurship from the African diaspora. Art, food, fashion, design, and music come together on the Rue des Gardes in a celebration of fractal beauty, the dynamic fragmentation and repetition that echoes across so much of the diaspora’s creative output. Imany, a French pop artist of Comorian descent, makes a special appearance, including a surprise collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma. Open to the public.

Yo-Yo Ma unit ses forces avec l’agence culturelle Little Africa lors d’une après-midi de fête dans le quartier de La Goutte d’Or. Un véritable centre parisien pour l’art et l’entrepreneuriat de la diaspora africaine. À cette occasion, la rue des Gardes se remplit d’arts visuels, de gastronomie, de mode, de design et de musique. Le tout pour rendre hommage à la beauté parcellaire née de la dynamique de répétition et de fragmentation qui resonne à travers l’oeuvre diasporique. L’invitée spéciale, Imany, artiste pop française d’origine comorienne, sera de la partie en vue d’une collaboration surprise avec Yo-Yo Ma. Événement ouvert au public.
